The Outdoor Wi-Fi Project, a collaborative endeavour between the National University of Singapore (NUS) and StarHub, is a ground-breaking initiative representing Singapore’s pioneering 100% solar-powered campus Wi-Fi over 5G. This project is a testament to exceptional innovation and unwavering dedication, particularly in addressing the formidable challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The project exemplifies digital transformation excellence in higher education and beyond through its technological advancements, sustainability efforts, and impact on connectivity.

Working closely with trusted technology partners, NEC led the design, supply, delivery, and commissioning of a tailor-made wired and wireless network infrastructure, alongside a robust firewall system, customised exclusively for the university's new campus. This partnership elevated SIT’s educational experience and research capabilities with the latest in network solutions. The network solutions focus on wired and wireless network management system, zero trust security policy, AI and cloud management system which includes several optimisation features to provide the best user experience. The new network infrastructure is strategically engineered to enhance connectivity and collaboration between students, faculty and researchers.
